MediCarrera is currently offering opportunities for Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists at the BUP outpatient clinic in Bollnäs, Sweden.

About the Organization
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) outpatient clinic in Bollnäs is part of HAB-BUP-FH Gävleborg. The clinic serves children and adolescents aged 6–18 with conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism with psychiatric comorbidity, and bipolar disorder.

You will work with two senior consultants (one on-site, one partly remote) and a team of nurses, social workers, psychologists, and administrative staff. The clinic has about 20 employees and promotes a collaborative and supportive work environment with well-structured routines.

There is close collaboration with the BUP Hudiksvall clinic, inpatient units in Gävle, and a specialized eating disorder unit.

 
About the Role

  • Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8–17 (flexible schedule)
  • Daily tasks include scheduled visits, evaluations, treatments, and urgent assessments
  • Multidisciplinary teamwork with nurses, social workers, and psychologists
  • Average 4–5 patient visits per day
  • After the introduction period: daytime weekend duty about every 8th weekend
  • No night shifts

 
Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, evaluations, and treatments for children and adolescents
  • Provide both scheduled and urgent daytime care
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in the development of treatment programs and clinical improvements
  • Supervise resident doctors (all senior consultants are certified supervisors)
  • Occasional travel to Gävle for weekend duty or collegial meetings

 
Requirements

  • Specialist certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry recognized in the EU
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a specialist (for independent work)
  • Interest in psychiatry, families, and children
  • Valuable but not required: driver’s license, basic psychotherapy training
  • Personal qualities: independent, collaborative, curious, unpretentious
  • Commitment to complete MediCarrera’s intensive Swedish language program
     

Salary and Conditions (2025)

  • Physician Assistant (while studying B2–C1): SEK 46,500/month (50% work + 50% language studies)
  • Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (permanent): from SEK 75,600/month
  • Senior Consultant (permanent): salary negotiated individually
  • Daytime on-call during office hours and standby on weekends
