General practitioner or Family doctor

General practitioner or Family doctor
Job Description

Bologna Health Jobs is seeking General Practitioners (GPs) to work in daytime primary care centres and out-of-hours (OOH) services in Ireland.

In Ireland, primary care operates under a public-private partnership model. This means that most GP practices are privately owned and managed, but they receive funding from the HSE through contracts to provide care to public patients (e.g. those with a medical card).

How does primary care work in Ireland for patients?
There are three main patient categories:

Medical Card holders: Entitled to free access to many healthcare services, including GP care. Usually granted to lower-income patients or those with specific medical conditions.
GP Visit Card holders: Covers GP consultations only, but not other services.
Private patients: Those without a card must pay per consultation (typically €50–€70), usually higher-income patients.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop an international career and gain business and management skills, as many doctors eventually become partners in their own GP practice.

Start date: From September 2026, before the end of the year.
