Consultant or staff specialist in pulmonary diseases

If you are seeking new challenges and want to make a difference, then we are looking for a consultant/staff specialist in pulmonary diseases.

We are looking for an interested medical specialist who wants to work with general pulmonary medicine, principally ward rounds, but probably in the outpatient clinic once a week by agreement as well. It is possible to be a part of the back-up on-call team.

About the Pulmonary Medical Unit

The Pulmonary Medical Unit handles tasks at main function level for a large catchment area (150,000 residents) and has a high level of outpatient activity. We are continually trying to improve and bring in new treatment options.

The department has 20 beds (soon to be 29) and an outpatient clinic closely associated with the inpatient ward.

In the inpatient ward, we have NIV, percutaneous CO2 monitoring and mobile ultrasound equipment, and we also insert chest tubes. The outpatient clinic includes spirometry, pulmonary plethysmograph (body box), lung diffusion capacity measurement, mannitol, methacholine, NO measurement, etc.We perform bronchoscopies on intensive-care patients.

We have a visiting nurse function for providing oxygen therapy and NIV at home. We also diagnose, treat and track down the source of infection in TB patients.

At present, the department has three specialists in pulmonary medicine. The department is classified as a main function unit (HFE) in the continuing internal medicine training programme: pulmonary medicine.

We are part of a large department of internal medicine with excellent interdisciplinary cooperation. Besides pulmonary medicine, the following specialisations are represented: cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, nephrology and geriatrics.
