Are you an EU-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty experience in paediatric ophthalmology, medical retina, or both? Are you ready for a new chapter in your professional and personal life—working in a highly innovative, research-driven hospital in beautiful Southern Sweden?

We are recruiting on behalf of one of Scandinavia’s most advanced and respected healthcare institutions—for permanent, full-time positions in their expanding ophthalmology department.

 
👁️‍🗨️ The Role
One of the largest university hospitals in the Nordic area is seeking specialists in paediatric ophthalmology and/or medical retina to join their multidisciplinary team. You will:

- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across outpatient, emergency, and surgical settings.
- Contribute to cutting-edge research and innovation.
- Work within one of Sweden’s largest ophthalmology departments (260+ professionals).
- Participate in nationally specialized care for childhood glaucoma, cataracts, and hereditary retinal diseases.
- Be supported in developing subspecialty expertise, research engagement, or leadership roles.
 
💼 What’s on Offer
- Permanent full-time contract (40 hrs/week): Standard hours 07:45–16:30 (including 45-min lunch).
- Initial monthly salary: SEK 50,000 (before Swedish license, the first few months); after license, SEK 70,000–95,000+ depending on experience and responsibilities.
- Additional pay for evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Language training: Fully supported Swedish lessons in your home country (to B2), continued support to reach C1 after relocation.
- Relocation and onboarding support: Assistance with home finding, integration, and job start.

Requirements
- Specialist qualification in ophthalmology from an EU country.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as a specialist within paediatric ophthalmology, medical retina, or both.
- Willingness to participate in free language training to reach minimum B2 Swedish before relocation and C1 level after.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team spirit, and a genuine interest in continuous development.
- Ideally, a background or interest in research.
