🔎 Position Overview
Are you a certified ophthalmologist in the EU, passionate about delivering high-quality care to both adult and pediatric patients? Join a skilled and supportive team at Vaasa Central Hospital’s outpatient ophthalmology clinic, where you’ll engage in diverse clinical work combining outpatient consultations and day surgeries.

The ophthalmology unit offers scheduled and urgent care (Mon–Fri, 08:00–15:00) for patients with a wide range of eye conditions—from new referrals to chronic cases under long-term management.

 
🩺 Key Responsibilities
- Examine, diagnose, and treat both common and complex ocular diseases requiring specialist care.
- Perform minor procedures, laser treatments, and eyelid surgeries—including removal of cancerous skin lesions near the eye.
- Oversee and guide specialized nurses in the administration of intravitreal injections.
- Participate in cataract surgery under local anesthesia (1 to 4 days per week).
- Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team (nurses, optometrists).
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors and actively engage in the ongoing training of unit staff.
 
Requirements
- Medical license and specialist qualification in ophthalmology granted or recognized by an EU country.
- (For non-EU specialists: at least 3 years of post-recognition experience required.)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical team.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

Starting base salary: €7,442/month (before full Finnish medical license).
Final salary increases significantly with experience, responsibilities, and additional duties.

38 hours 15 minutes/week, including paid lunch breaks.

No prior Finnish required.
Free, intensive language course (7–9 months) delivered online by a professional teacher before relocation.
