Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Consultant General Physician - Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) for a hospital in Ireland.

This a 12 month position on a salary basis.

Specifically, the role is Medical Assessment Unit (MAU)–based, with a view to facilitating the expansion of MAU opening hours in the relevant Model 2 hospital from 8.00am–8.00pm to 8.00am–midnight, along with a concomitant expansion of NCHD staffing. The last patient appointment time will be 10.00pm.

The Consultant will also be expected to participate in the Medicine on-call rota on a pro rata basis.

The MAU has close linkages with the Acute Medical Unit in the Model 4 hospital and with the MAUs in the other hospitals within the Group, and is aligned to the National Acute Medical Programme. The majority of patients attending the MAU are discharged, with those requiring admission generally being admitted to the appropriate medical ward within the Model 2 hospital. Patients who require higher levels of care are transferred to the Model 4 hospital.

Applicants are required to hold registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in the relevant specialty.

1 year plus relevant experience in MAU/General Physician
