Would you like to work with advanced transplant surgery at one of Abu Dhabi’s leading private hospitals, with access to modern medical technology and an international specialist environment?

On behalf of a leading private hospital in Abu Dhabi, we are seeking an experienced Multi-Organ Transplant Surgeon, preferably with surgical experience involving at least two different organs. The position is offered on a minimum 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

The hospital is part of an established international healthcare group and offers modern surgical facilities, advanced medical technology and a multidisciplinary specialist environment. This position provides an opportunity to perform complex transplant procedures while working closely with specialists in surgery, anesthesiology, intensive care and other relevant medical disciplines.

English is the working language, and the hospital serves both local and international patients.

The position offers a fixed annual salary of approximately €317,000 (AED 1.32 million), with the potential for additional commission-based income. Employment income in the UAE is generally not subject to personal income tax.

About the role

As a Multi-Organ Transplant Surgeon, you will be involved in the assessment, surgical treatment and follow-up of patients undergoing organ transplantation.

We are particularly interested in experienced surgeons with expertise in transplanting at least two different organs. Relevant experience may include kidney, liver, pancreas or other organ transplantation, depending on your specialization and the hospital’s requirements.

The position involves advanced surgical procedures, preoperative assessments and postoperative management. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary transplant team to ensure comprehensive patient care and high standards of patient safety.

The hospital is seeking an experienced transplant surgeon with strong clinical and surgical expertise, excellent collaborative skills and an interest in contributing to the continued development of transplant services.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess and provide surgical treatment for patients requiring organ transplantation
  • Perform transplant procedures within your areas of expertise
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and plan complex transplant procedures
  • Evaluate patients’ suitability for transplantation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary transplant team
  • Provide surgical management and follow-up before and after transplantation
  • Diagnose and manage surgical complications following transplantation
  • Participate in donor organ assessment, procurement and management, where relevant
  • Collaborate closely with specialists in anesthesiology, intensive care, nephrology, gastroenterology and other relevant disciplines
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate complex patient pathways
  • Contribute to clinical quality improvement, patient safety and the development of transplant surgery services

Specific responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, surgical experience and the hospital’s transplant programs.

We are looking for someone who

  • Hold a recognized specialist qualification in a relevant surgical specialty, with additional training or documented expertise in transplant surgery
  • Have at least three years of relevant clinical experience following completion of specialist training
  • Have extensive clinical and operative experience in organ transplantation
  • Preferably have experience in transplanting at least two different organs
  • Have experience managing complex surgical cases and transplant patients
  • Have excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Demonstrate strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Are comfortable working in an international and multicultural healthcare environment
  • Are committed to high standards of clinical quality and patient safety
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for the relevant specialist licensing category in Abu Dhabi

Preferred candidate background

We are particularly interested in candidates who completed their specialist training and currently hold specialist recognition in one of the following countries:

Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom (with CCT), Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, or South Korea.

These qualifications are highly regarded within the UAE licensing framework and may offer a more straightforward licensing pathway, depending on the candidate’s individual qualifications, professional experience and the applicable licensing requirements.

Candidates from other countries who meet the relevant licensing requirements are also welcome to apply.

Working hours

  • Six-day working week
  • Working days of up to 10 hours
  • Working hours and clinical activity may vary depending on patient volume and the hospital’s operational requirements

Transplant surgery may also involve on-call responsibilities and work outside regular working hours. Any applicable on-call arrangements and associated conditions will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Salary and benefits

The position offers a fixed salary of approximately AED 110,000 (€26,400) per month, equivalent to AED 1.32 million (€317,000) annually.

Positions of this nature often include an additional commission-based component, providing the opportunity to achieve a significantly higher total annual income depending on clinical activity, patient volume and individual agreements.

Any applicable commission arrangements and their specific terms will be discussed during the recruitment process.

The UAE does not impose personal income tax on employment income. However, candidates may still have tax obligations in their home country or other jurisdictions, depending on their individual tax residency and circumstances.

Medical licensing and relocation

Relocating to another country involves several practical and administrative steps. We aim to make this process as straightforward as possible.

The employer provides assistance with the medical licensing process, and candidates receive guidance throughout each stage.

You do not need to hold an existing Department of Health (DOH) license when applying. However, you must meet the eligibility requirements for licensing as a Consultant ENT in Abu Dhabi.

We also work with an experienced local relocation partner in the UAE who can assist with practical arrangements related to moving and settling in.

Whether you are relocating independently or bringing your partner or family, you will receive support to help make the transition to working and living in Abu Dhabi as smooth as possible.

Due to the licensing process, relocation requirements and the time involved in establishing yourself in Abu Dhabi, the position is offered with a minimum contract duration of 12 months.
