ABOUT THE HOSPITAL

The Department of Medical Diseases has 34 beds on the register in Aabenraa and 64 on the register. The department has approx. 100 doctors employed, of which 40 are training doctors distributed among the registers. The hospital has training doctors at the KBU level, introductory positions in internal medicine as well as HU in both our own and other internal medicine specialities as well as general medicine. The Department of Medical Diseases is divided into 4 sections, 3 registers in different municipalities of the region. Each section is led by a senior physician and several senior nurses. The professional management is supported by senior doctors with areas of responsibility. The sections are:

• Diabetes, Hormonal, Kidney and Geriatric Diseases consisting of the specialities endocrinology, nephrology and geriatrics which includes two wards with Diabetes, Hormonal and Kidney Diseases Bed Ward in another municipality and Geriatric Diseases Bed Ward. In addition, there are outpatient clinics in all specialties including the hemodialysis unit and dementia clinic, as well as the medical wound outpatient clinic.

• Pulmonary and Gastrointestinal Diseases consisting of the specialities pulmonary medicine and gastroenterology which consist of two-bed sections as well as associated outpatient clinics and scoping functions in both specialities. The section also contains the Medical Outpatient Clinic.

• Medical Reception and Medical Day Hospital take care of receiving acute medical patients, Diagnostic Center and Medical Reception Outpatient Clinic. In the municipality, there is only an outpatient function, including emergency reception of outpatients.

• Cancer and Blood Diseases and Team for palliative treatment consisting of the specialities oncology, haematology and the field of palliation, which consists of a bed unit for palliative treatment and internal medicine, outpatient clinics in the specialities and an outpatient team for palliative treatment. As the future colleague, you will primarily function in the areas of Diabetes, Hormones and Kidney Diseases, which are located on the register. Diabetes- Hormone and Kidney diseases consist of:

• A bed section with 18 beds for patients with internal medicine problems, including specialist patients in nephrology, endocrinology and medical wounds.

• Renal medicine outpatient clinic with general nephrology, peritoneal dialysis and MMU

• Hemodialysis outpatient clinic including limited care and HHD

• Shared outpatient clinic for diabetes and kidney disease

• Endocrinological outpatient clinic

• Wound clinic

Main responsibilities and expectations

  • The hospital is looking for a specialist doctor who wants to contribute to the further development of the nephrology speciality in the municipality.
  • The hospital has nephrology at the main function level but is working, in collaboration with OUH, to increase their offer to patients and take home as many checks and treatments as possible, for the benefit of the population of the region. Here they are looking for a nephrologist who wants to, together with the department's other nephrologists, collaborate across both a large internal medical department, as well as across Region Southern Denmark.
  • The hospital has a strong focus on strengthening research. Medical diseases research unit: The Medical Research Unit, among other things, carries out research with a focus on patients with chronic diseases and sector transitions, including nephrology.
  • You will be starting to work in English.

Basic Requirements

*To be a specialist doctor/nurse/dentist with at least 2-3 years of experience and graduated from an EU university.

* To be an EU citizen.
