Neurologist

Neurologist
Job Description

Main responsibilities and expectations

As a specialist in neurology, you will work at the neurology outpatient clinic in Gävle, where you will have your own clinic schedule and provide outpatient care for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions.

The clinic also functions as a consulting service equivalent to daytime neurological on-call duties, although there is no affiliated neurology ward and stroke care is not included in the assignment in Gävle. Your main responsibilities will include assessment and treatment of neurological conditions, follow-up of investigations, assessment of referrals from across the county, writing medical certificates, and providing supervision to junior doctors during outpatient activities.

You will also be involved in the clinic’s day-care unit, where infusion treatments are administered during daytime hours. The department offers Botulinum toxin treatment clinics for dystonia, hemifacial spasm, and chronic migraine.

You will work closely with other doctors and healthcare professionals at the clinic, as well as with a neurorehabilitation team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, dietitians, counselors, nurses, and neuropsychologists.

The position offers a broad neurological focus, varied work, and opportunities for professional development within several neurological diagnoses. The clinic is also developing digital solutions, including the possibility of patient consultations via video through “My Care Gävleborg, ” which may enable remote work.
