On behalf of Ullensvang Municipality, we are recruiting nurses for permanent positions in municipal healthcare services in Utne, Western Norway.

As a nurse in Utne, you will work across both nursing home and home care services. You will meet patients with different healthcare needs, take independent professional responsibility and work closely with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Utne is a small community in the Hardanger region on Norway’s west coast, around 2.5 hours from Bergen and Bergen International Airport. Located by the Sørfjord, a branch of the famous Hardangerfjord, Utne is surrounded by mountains, fruit orchards and some of Western Norway’s most characteristic scenery.

Moving to another country is a big step, and we will support you throughout the process. Dignus Medical provides free Norwegian language training, assistance with Norwegian authorisation and practical support with relocation and settling into your new community.

About the position

As a nurse in Utne, you will have a varied working day and the opportunity to use a broad range of your nursing skills. Some patients will be cared for in a nursing home, while others receive care in their own homes.

You will work independently and make professional assessments, while also being part of a team and working closely with other healthcare professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing nursing care and following up patients
• Clinical observation, assessment and documentation
• Medication management and treatment
• Providing care to patients in nursing homes and in their own homes
• Making independent clinical assessments
• Working closely with colleagues and other healthcare professionals
• Communicating with relatives and other parts of the healthcare service

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for qualified nurses who are confident in their professional role, comfortable working independently and motivated to build a new life and career in Norway.

You:

• Hold a valid nursing licence from an EU/EEA country
• Hold citizenship from an EU/EEA country
• Speak English fluently and are highly motivated to learn Norwegian
• Are willing to complete our free Norwegian language programme before starting work
• Hold a valid driving licence
• Work well both independently and as part of a team
• Preferably have experience from community healthcare, nursing homes or home care services

You do not need to speak Norwegian when you apply. If you are selected for the position, Dignus Medical will guide you through the entire process of preparing for your move to Norway.

Life in the heart of Hardanger

Utne is located by the Sørfjord in Hardanger on Norway’s west coast, surrounded by mountains and fruit orchards. Fruit growing has been part of life here for generations, and the landscape changes with the seasons, from orchards in full bloom in spring to apples, plums, pears and cherries later in the year.

Life here is quieter than in a large city, with the fjord and mountains right outside your door. You can spend your free time hiking, exploring the fjord or discovering local farms and producers. Utne also has a strong cultural heritage, including the Hardanger Folk Museum and the historic Utne Hotel.

If you are moving with your family, there is a kindergarten in Utne and a primary school with after-school care nearby. Odda, the main town and administrative centre of Ullensvang Municipality, is around 45 minutes away by car and offers a wider range of shops and services. Ferry connections link Utne to both sides of the fjord, making it easy to explore Hardanger and travel onwards towards Voss and Bergen. Bergen, the largest city in Western Norway, is around 2.5 hours away and has an international airport.
