Job Description

Royal Caribbean Group is seeking a qualified physician to join our medical team aboard our global fleet of cruise ships. You will provide high-quality medical care to guests and crew, manage medical emergencies, and support overall health and wellness at sea. This is a dynamic, patient-centered role in a unique, multilingual environment.

What you’ll do

  • Provide 24/7 primary medical care in the ship’s medical center: triage, assessment, treatment of common illnesses and injuries, minor procedures, immunizations, and preventive care.
  • Manage medical emergencies on board: CPR/ACLS, stabilization, coordination with port medical facilities, and handover to shore-based specialists when needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, ensure patient privacy and confidentiality, and manage medication inventories and medical equipment.
  • Implement infection control practices, run health promotion activities, vaccination campaigns, and pre-employment/visa medical screenings as required.
  • Collaborate with ship leadership, hotel operations, and crew to support health and safety initiatives and drills.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, safety protocols, and compliance with international maritime regulations and onboard policies.

What we’re looking for

  • Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution and an active medical license in your country of practice
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or substantial clinical experience as a physician.
  • Valid CPR/BLS and ACLS (PALS a plus); additional maritime medical certifications or willingness to obtain them.
  • Experience in acute care or emergency medicine; ability to work in a remote, resource-limited, multicultural environment with flexible shifts.
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to provide compassionate care to guests and crew from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to relocate to shipboard duties for extended periods; ability to travel with itineraries as required.
  • Language: English required; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Physical and medical fitness to meet sea-borne work environments and medical clearance requirements.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and shipboard accommodation with meals
  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, travel benefits, and paid leave
  • Training and development opportunities, including maritime-related medical education
  • A unique, global workplace with diverse colleagues and guests
