Job Description

Bologna Health Jobs is seeking an Infectious Disease Consultant for one of the leading hospitals (model 4) in the Cork area.

Responsibilities:

• Specialized clinical care: Diagnosis and treatment of complex infections (sepsis, hospital-acquired infections, HIV, tuberculosis, tropical infections, etc.), both in inpatient and outpatient settings.

• Hospital consultations: Advising other departments (ICU, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, etc.) on the management of infections in hospitalized patients.

• Infection control and prevention: Participation in infection prevention and control (IPC) programs, hospital outbreak management, and hygiene and isolation policies.

• Clinical management and leadership: Participation in hospital committees, development of clinical protocols, and service planning.

In summary, the candidate will be part of the consultan team and  will be a key member of the department. Therefore, they will hold a leadership position and operate with complete autonomy. They will supervise residents and attending physicians, oversee all team decisions, and report to the hospital's clinical director.

- The gross base salary is €233,500-€280,500 gross per year, plus €50,000 for on-call shifts, with a potential income of up to €320,000 gross per year.

- 30 days of annual leave + 10 additional vacation days.

- Bologna Health Jobs will assist doctors with many aspects of the selection and onboarding process at our client hospital, such as reviewing CVs to match vacancies and assisting with registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC). We offer advice and recommendations before hospital interviews, assistance with the recognition of your experience in Ireland if you are coming from abroad, relocation support, tax advice, career planning in Ireland, and more. Requirements:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the medical profession, of which at least 5 must be in internal medicine/infectious diseases (including residency).

- Very high level of English (B2-C1).

- Registration with the IMC's Register of Specialists in internal medicine or infectious diseases. We will assist all candidates with this process if they are not already registered. We are one of the few agencies that reviews all documentation to ensure this, both for IMC registration and for the necessary procedures to begin working in a hospital. We will assist candidates in various aspects, such as creating a strong CV, preparing for interviews, and ensuring their experience is recognized so they are assigned the appropriate salary level.

All unregistered candidates must be qualified as specialists in internal medicine or infectious diseases within the European Union (CVs without this qualification will not be considered). Alternatively, if they are from outside the EU, they must hold a specialist qualification recognized in an EU member state and have practiced for three years from the date of recognition.
